Project Overview:

At CTA, we seek to be environmentally conscious and to make choices that hold our natural resources in the highest regard. Our corporate headquarters in Billings, Montana stands as a testament to this commitment.

One of the most effective strategies for minimizing the environmental impact of building is to reuse an existing building. When our team found the Marshall Wells Building in a downtrodden area at the city's core, it was not love at first site. The 80-year-old building served as a hardware warehouse and sported an industrial look some suggested CTA cover up. Instead, we decided to use over 75% of the original building and restore much but not all of it. Some of the materials were left in their raw and vintage condition to accentuate the design. What wasn't utilized in the new design was donated to the Habitat for Humanity organization.

From the wood floors and brick walls to the roof and exposed timber columns, the building began to take on a unique look unlike any found in new construction. New finishes throughout the office are minimal, and we used recycled, rapidly renewable, non-toxic, flexible and durable materials. Other sustainable design features such as a green roof, use of natural light, low-flow water fixtures and energy efficient systems conserve natural resources and provide operational cost savings.

Sustainable design is more than a buzz word at CTA, it's a way of doing business.
